For a dining experience that dazzles your taste buds, book at table at India Garden restaurant in Belmar, New Jersey. Describing their cuisine as “the art of spices,” India Garden is located among Restaurant Row in the downtown Belmar Mall, taking over the space once occupied by Simply Southern.
The menu at India Garden restaurant in Belmar covers all the bases, from Mulligatawny soup and crispy samosas, to tandoori chicken or shrimp for starters. You’ll find a variety of flavor-infused poultry, lamb, seafood, and vegetarian entrées prepared in traditional Indian styles. For Indian fare with a twist, try the lamb nachos or tandoori tacos, two of the chef’s special dishes at India Garden.
There’s also a build-your-own menu option, in which you choose a flatbread, sauce, toppings, and spiciness level — making for a truly customized meal. Finish with a cup of masala tea or madras coffee and a classic Indian dessert such as carrot halwa (pudding), rasmali (soft and spongy cheese balls soaked in saffron-infused milk), or gulab jamun (a sweet doughnut-hole-style dessert).
Pictured above: During a recent visit to India Garden on a bustling Friday night, we had a spectacular meal of shrimp tikka masala, a classic curried entrée starring my favorite shellfish, and mugalai chicken korma, an aromatic and mildly spiced curry that gets its creaminess from yogurt and ground cashews. For sides, we chose basmati rice, crispy vegetable fritters, and freshly baked garlic naan (great for dipping in the savory sauces).

With its fantastic food offerings and casual BYOB experience, India Garden brings exciting new flavors to the Jersey Shore and to the Belmar dining scene in particular. India Garden opens for lunch at 11:00 a.m. every day except Monday (closed). Dine in, order online, or request delivery via DoorDash or Uber Eats.
