11 Ways To Celebrate Summer In Belmar

During your vacation in Belmar, New Jersey, you'll find a wide variety of activities and events for family members of all ages to enjoy. Here are some of the fun things to do in Belmar when you're looking to spend quality time together.

1. 18 Holes of Mini Golf

No Jersey Shore vacation is complete without a game or two of miniature golf. The 9th Ave. Pier restaurant operates the mini golf course at the Belmar Marina. Play every day (weather permitting) from noon to 10 p.m.

2. Family Fishing Trip

When the kids tire of the beach (is that even possible?), family fishing trips are a fun change of pace during your summer vacation in Belmar. The Belmar Marina is home to one of New Jersey's largest fleet of fishing head boats (party boats) and private fishing charters. In addition to half- and full-day fishing outings, some boats also offer sunset cruises. 3. Country Line Dancing - CANCELED FOR 2020

From July 1, 2019, through August 5, 2019, the Belmar Business Partnership is sponsoring six weeks of country line dancing every Monday evening in Pyanoe Plaza, which is located on Main Street at 9th Avenue. Come to dance or to enjoy the music — and check out the local shops and restaurants while you're here. This is a free event for the community. 4. Belmar Parasail

You'll never forget your first parasailing adventure 500 feet above the Atlantic Ocean! Parasailing is a fun family activity that does not require any previous experience or special equipment. 5. Banana Boat Rides And Fireworks Cruises

For summer 2020, Belmar Parasail is offering banana boat rides on selected dates, as well as boat rides on Thursday evenings to watch the fireworks off the coast of Jenkinson's Boardwalk at Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.

The fireworks cruises are $35 per person, and the Belmar Parasail boat fits up the 12 people. (BYOB for the adults if you so choose). 6. Go Play! Retro Arcade

A variety of classic arcade games awaits you at the Go Play! Retro Arcade in Belmar. From Skee-Ball and pinball, to air hockey, Wii and XBOX One, the kids will have a blast in this arcade. Ask about their party packages for kids' birthdays. Go Play! is open Monday through Thursday noon to 9:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday noon to midnight; and Sunday noon to 7:00 p.m.

7. Ice Cream Outing

We all scream for ice cream, and our favorite ice cream shop, Niki Maccanico's, is a five-minute walk from our Belmar vacation rental. All of the ice cream at Niki's is homemade and hand scooped. You'll find Niki's on 13th Avenue and Main Street, across from the Belmar Post Office. Another wildly popular sweet spot in Belmar is Coney Waffle, located at 803 Ocean Avenue across from the beach (next to Playa Bowls). Coney Waffle is known for its cannoli waffles and its unbelievable, belly-busting ice cream concoctions, including custom milk shakes and towering waffle cones topped with your choice of candies and cookies. 8. New Jersey Sandcastle Contest

The annual New Jersey Sandcastle Contest begins at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 (rain date July 16). This is a wonderful family-friendly event that draws thousands of competitors and spectators to Belmar's 18th Avenue beach to compete for top honors in several judging categories for kids, adults, and camps/youth groups. 9. Belmar Kite Festival

Setup on 3rd Avenue beach beginning at 10:00 a.m. Belmar Beach, New Jersey

The Belmar Business Partnership's 7th annual Belmar Kite Festival will take place Sunday, October 4, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on 3rd Avenue beach in Belmar.

10. Belmar Cruise Nights - CANCELED FOR 2020

June 17, July 15, and August 20, 2020

6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Another hugely popular event sponsored by the Belmar Business Partnership are the classic and vintage car shows on Main Street every summer. Three Belmar Cruise Nights are being planned for 2020: June 17, July 15, and August 20.

Stroll the downtown area, enjoy the nostalgia of the old cars and doo-wop music, and then enjoy dinner at one of the nearby restaurants. Many of the local shops will also be open during the car show if you want to do a little shopping while you're in town. 11. Free Fireworks on Belmar Beach - CANCELED FOR 2020
