While everyone eagerly waited for the restrictions on indoor dining to be lifted on September 4, 2020, many restaurants in Belmar have been open during the pandemic and taking special care to provide guests with a safe outdoor dining experience. Many of these establishments are now also offering limited-capacity inside seating in accordance with state guidelines.
In addition to Belmar’s popular patio bars and waterfront restaurants, such as Klein's and Marina Grille, you’ll find outdoor dining options in the downtown business district, as well as along Ocean Avenue and Main Street.
To support local restaurant owners during the busy summer season, Belmar officials have granted special permits that allow restaurants to serve customers in al fresco zones carved from public parking lots and stretches of sidewalk.
For example, Simply Southern, Sonny's Grille, Jersey Shore BBQ, and 10th Avenue Burrito Co. are among the eateries in Belmar’s “restaurant row” that have appropriately distanced tables in the Belmar Plaza parking lot. On Main Street, Jake’s Downtown, Doughboy's Wood-Fired Pizza, Sweet Tease Tea Room, Stay Gold Café, Surf Taco, and Comfi of Belmar are some of numerous places with sidewalk seating. Federico's Pizza and Italian Restaurant has patio seating, as does Boathouse Bar and Grill, which also has some outdoor tables under a tent in its parking lot.
You’ll also find sidewalk and patio seating at some of the downtown establishments on 10th Avenue, including Federici’s on 10th, Beckman’s Deli, and Kaya’s Kitchen. In nearby Pyanoe Plaza, Brandl restaurant, Don’s Pizza King, and Belmar Bagels have tables outside.
Both Bar Anticipation in Lake Como and D'Jais on Ocean Avenue have transformed their parking lots with covered spaces and tables to serve customers outside.
Overlooking the picturesque Shark River on Route 35, Rajin' Cajun is accepting reservations for seating times between 4:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. On Ocean Avenue, La Terrazza Italian Restaurant has covered outdoor seating on its patio, as well as open-air sidewalk seating (reservations are recommended).
If you plan to visit one of the restaurants discussed above, please call first to make sure they’re open and find out what their guidelines are for indoor and outdoor seating. Some restaurants are accepting phone or online reservations, but others are not taking any reservations and are first-come, first-served only.
Many Belmar restaurants are also continuing to offer takeout, curbside pickup, or delivery – again, it’s best to call first to see what options are available before you decide on your dinner plans. Menus, pricing, hours, and all other details vary by establishment and are subject to change.
