  • Dining Around: Avon Promenade Restaurant

Book an ocean-view table for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at The Promenade restaurant in Avon By The Sea, New Jersey. The BYOB Avon Promenade Waterfront Grill opened in April 2023, taking over the space that previously housed the legendary Avon Pavilion restaurant, which closed on September 26, 2022, after 33 years of serving the community. According to its Resy listing, “New menu, new chef, same gorgeous ocean views. Join us at the Promenade Waterfront Grill, where casual dining and views of the ocean are visible from every seat as one of the only beachfront restaurants in Monmouth County, NJ. Our exquisite menu will create a unique and memorable dining experience for everyone, including vegan and vegetarian options.” Avon Promenade restaurant on the Avon boardwalk, 600 Ocean Avenue. The dinner menu at Avon Promenade restaurant has plenty of choices for all appetites. For starters, there’s a raw seafood bar and sushi, a choice of five different salads, and appetizers such as fried calamari, clams casino, and roasted oysters. Entrée selections include a variety of Italian-inspired dishes, including cavatelli pomodoro, chicken Parmesan, chicken Milanese, or linguine with white clam sauce. Local Tip: Every Wednesday in June is local's night at Avon Promenade Waterfront Grill. All dinner entrees are 25% off, except sushi and Ripe Life wines. Call 732-505-7770 to reserve your table or book on Resy. If seafood's more your thing, try the grilled bronzino, seared halibut with fingerling potatoes and clams, or grilled salmon with asparagus, roasted tomatoes and crab meat sauce. For the meat lovers, main courses include a 16-ounce grilled and oven-roasted pork chop, grilled skirt steak with herb compote butter, or braised short ribs over polenta and baby spinach. During a recent dinner with friends, we shared two pear salads with baby arugula and blueberry goat cheese, which easily served the four of us (two people per salad). For my entrée, I chose the pistachio-crusted red snapper, which was accompanied by velvety whipped potatoes and sautéed broccoli rabe. One friend chose Avon Promenade’s luxurious lobster ravioli with fra diavlo sauce, while two others made the excellent choice of pan-seared scallops over creamy risotto. After dinner, we enjoyed cappuccinos and shared a slice of decadent pistachio cake. Avon Promenade’s dessert menu also includes a selection of sorbets and gelatos, as well as New York cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate cake, and red velvet cake. • Belmar Winter Rentals Guide: Enjoying Off-Season At The Shore

Belmar’s Off‑Season Has Its Own Charm Belmar’s off‑season — often called “local summer” — is one of the best times to experience the Jersey Shore. The crowds thin out, the pace slows, and the town settles into a peaceful, relaxed rhythm that locals love. You can enjoy the same beautiful beaches, boardwalk, and marina views without the summer rush, making fall, winter, and early spring an incredible time to stay in Belmar. Local Summer At The Jersey Shore Once Labor Day passes, Belmar becomes a quiet year-round coastal community, and it doesn’t shut down like shore towns on the barrier islands (such as LBI, Lavallette, and Ocean City). The beach is still beautiful for sitting with your toes in the sand, the boardwalk is peaceful for morning walks, and the sunsets over the Shark River at the Belmar Marina are some of the best you’ll see all year. Local Tip: Belmar beach is free to access after Labor Day, and the ocean is still warm and refreshing throughout most of September. I've even enjoyed beach days in early October when Mother Nature brings extended summerlike weather. Why People Choose Belmar For Winter Rentals Belmar’s off‑season isn’t just for locals — it’s an excellent option for anyone who needs short‑term, furnished housing at the Jersey Shore. Our Belmar winter rental is an excellent option for traveling professionals, visiting faculty, remote workers, out‑of‑state guests with family in the area, or anyone looking for quality short‑term housing in a quiet setting at the Jersey Shore. Winter rentals offer a flexible short-term lease, the comfort of a fully furnished home, the convenience of walkability, and the tranquility of a small coastal town — all at a lower monthly rate than peak-season summer rentals. Enjoying Belmar In The Off-Season Belmar restaurants and downtown shops are open year-round, so there is always something to do on the weekends and during the week. In November, check out Jersey Shore Restaurant Week, during which several restaurants in Belmar and other towns offer fixed-price dinner specials that include an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. In addition, there are shopping malls and outlets nearby and area attractions such as the Asbury Park boardwalk. Community events such as the Belmar Feast of San Gennaro, the Belmar Pro Surfing Competition, and local flea markets take place in the fall as they days turn crisp and the leaves start to turn. One of my favorite fall activities is the Seastreak Ferry's foliage and football cruise to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. If you like to keep physically active, the Belmar boardwalk is a great place to walk or run throughout most of the fall and even into the winter if you bundle up. Other places to walk in Belmar include around Silver Lake at 5th and Ocean Avenues and around Lake Como at 20th Avenue and Main Street, which are both encircled with gravel trails. Maclearie Park along Route 35 by the Belmar Marina also has a nice walking trail along the water. Belmar's public tennis and pickleball courts are open as weather permits, and you will catch some amazing fall sunsets at the Belmar Marina, overlooking the picturesque Shark River and the nearby fleet of commercial fishing boats. Also check out the Belmar Tiki Boat for a leisurely sunset cruise around the Shark River. Why Belmar Works For Traveling Professionals Easy Access To Major Highways If you commute to work in central or northern New Jersey, you'll appreciate Belmar's easy access to major highways, including State Route 35, Route 18, the Garden State Parkway, I‑195, and the New Jersey Turnpike. Close To Hospitals, Universities & Corporate Campuses Belmar's convenient location is ideal for anyone who commutes to major New Jersey hospitals, universities, and corporate campuses within a 45‑minute drive or less. Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is about an hour away via I‑195 East and Route 29 through Trenton, New Jersey. Transit Options For NYC & Business Travel For business travel, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is about 45 minutes north. The New Jersey Transit Belmar train station offers daily rail service to New York City via the Jersey Coast Line. Belmar is also about 45 minutes from the Seastreak Ferry terminals in Highlands and Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Belmar Winter Rentals Guide: What To Expect Fully Furnished Convenience Typically, winter rentals at the Jersey Shore — including the Blue Hydrangea Beach Cottage in Belmar — are fully furnished and move‑in ready. This makes them ideal for short‑term stays, contract assignments, or temporary relocations. Quiet, Residential Living Winter renters enjoy peaceful neighborhoods, easy parking, and a slower lifestyle. It’s a great environment for remote work, studying, or simply enjoying a quieter season near the ocean. Flexible, Short-Term Leases Winter rentals typically run from late September or October through April or May. They offer a more flexible and affordable alternative to annual leases or long hotel stays. Thinking About A Winter Stay In Belmar? When enjoying food and drinks on Belmar Beach, please be respectful to our town — and to the environment. Do not leave your trash on the beach. Belmar provides trash and recycling containers right on the beach for your convenience in cleaning up after yourself. Beach umbrellas are allowed on Belmar Beach, but tents, canopies, and shade coverings higher than 36 inches are not allowed on Belmar Beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Smoke-Free Beach & Boardwalk In 2014, Belmar became the first New Jersey shore town to ban smoking on the beach. Smoking is prohibited on the entire beach and boardwalk at all times. • LobsterPalooza Every Thursday At The Columns

Calling all lobster lovers! The Columns bar and restaurant in Avon By The Sea, New Jersey, has its popular LobsterPalooza special every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with live music starting at 6:30 p.m. Feast on a 1.25-pound whole steamed lobster, plus vegetable of the day and choice of mashed potatoes, rice, or French fries, for just $19.95. If you don't like the mess of cracking into a whole steamed lobster, try the Maine lobster rolls ($26.00) or surf-and-turf lobster rolls ($26.00) when dining at the Columns in Avon. If pasta is more your style, try the lobster ravioli ($28.00) with a light cognac lobster sauce and topped with fresh lobster meat. The dinner menu at Columns has plenty of other seafood options, too, including shrimp cocktail, tuna tacos, fried calamari, bacon-wrapped scallops, surf and turf, and more. Columns gets very crowded in the summer, especially on LobsterPalooza night, so it's best to get there early to get a table on the covered porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean or a seat at the bar. Columns restaurant does not accept reservations. Live musical entertainment starts at 6:00 p.m., in addition to LobsterPalooza every Thursday at the Columns. • Rise & Dine: Best Breakfast Spots In Belmar & Beyond

When you're spending time down the shore, it’s fun to treat yourself to breakfast out before a day of sightseeing or beach time. Here are some of the Beachcomber Blog’s favorite breakfast and brunch spots in the Belmar area, all within a short walk, bike ride, or drive of our beach house rental. These 10 restaurants have elevated French toast, pancakes, and even the humble egg to new levels of deliciousness, which is why they are some of the best breakfast spots in Belmar and beyond. (Restaurants listed in alphabetical order.) 1. Beckman's Deli 704 10th Avenue Belmar, New Jersey 07719 732-556-6166 https://www.beckmansdeli.com Among the best breakfast spots in Belmar, Beckman's Deli is a legend and my favorite place to get a Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich to go. Beckman's is also known for its pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwiches and its pork roll hash. Owned by long-time Belmar residents Charlie and Debra Beckman, Beckman's Deli is a super-casual breakfast place with a small seating area inside and seasonal tables outside. The breakfast menu includes a variety of hot breakfast sandwiches and wraps, breakfast platters, eggs Benedict, pancakes, omelets, and typical breakfast sides such as bacon, sausage and hash browns. Beckman's Deli in Belmar has online ordering for takeout and delivery via GrubHub. RELATED: Get Your Belmar Shirts & Swag At Beckman's By The Beach 2. Buttered Biscuit Café 700 Main Street Bradley Beach, New Jersey 07720 732-807-4069 www.thebutteredbiscuitcafe.com The Buttered Biscuit Café in Bradley Beach is a local hot spot, well worth the wait for a table. On Sunday mornings, a 45-minute wait for a table is not unusual, so get here as early as you can (or, do as we do and grab a seat at the counter, or get an order to go). Our favorite dishes include the cali crab, the Buttered Biscuit scramble, and the eggs Oscar (pictured below). Breakfast is served Sunday through Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. The cali crab omelette at Buttered Biscuit Café in Bradley Beach is a personal breakfast favorite. 3. Caffé Di Famiglia 917 Main Street Belmar, New Jersey 07719 732-217-5490 In downtown Belmar, New Jersey, Caffé di Famiglia adds an Italian flair to your morning coffee and breakfast. The menu at Caffé di Famiglia features hearty options like a two-egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on ciabatta bread; a loaded breakfast wrap with eggs, bacon or sausage, and shredded potatoes; a fluffy three-egg omelet; and lighter favorites like avocado toast with roasted tomatoes and habanero bacon jam — all served with fresh fruit. On the sweeter side, you'll find pancakes, waffles, and croissant French toast, along with a rotating selection of freshly baked Italian pastries. If a sweet-savory breakfast is more your style, try the Monte Cristo, hot honey chicken, or Nutella and blueberry waffle sandwiches. For a healthier spin, choose a Greek yogurt parfait with fresh fruit or vanilla-flavored oatmeal to start your day. Coffee lovers will feel right at home at Caffé di Famiglia, where the espresso bar offers regular and decaf coffee, plus classic flavored options like vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, mocha, and seasonal syrups to customize your cup. Whether you prefer a bold drip coffee, a lavender dream or chai latte, ginger-honey tea, or a hot Americano, there’s a warm drink waiting to kick off your morning. RELATED: A Slice Of Indulgence At Sweet Tease Tea Room 4. Comfi Of Belmar 707 Main Street Belmar, New Jersey 07719 732-749-3583 Comfi of Belmar is nearing its 10th anniversary in downtown Belmar, New Jersey. The casual breakfast and lunch restaurant is locally known for its mega portions — and mega pancakes. Some of my favorite fare at Comfi of Belmar includes the loaded pierogi omelet (a nod to my Polish roots); the Comfi Benedict: three poached eggs topped with a crispy Bell and Evans chicken breast, asparagus, sauteed spinach, and chipotle hollandaise sauce, served over creamy mashed potatoes (really three meals in one!); and the chocolate chip pancakes. For really hungry mornings, try Comfi's special sampler called the "I'm Still Undecided Breakfast," which includes French toast, two eggs any style, a pancake, a choice of meat, and breakfast potatoes. Another favorite is "Jacek's Inspiration," two giant potato pancakes topped with fresh broccoli, onions, zucchini, asparagus, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. Oh wow!! Emilio's On Main 1006 Main Street Belmar, New Jersey 07719 848-404-9331 http://www.emilioskitchen.com/ If you’re looking to start your day with bold flavors and fresh ingredients, Emilio’s on Main is a must-try breakfast destination in Belmar. This popular organic Mexican-inspired restaurant serves breakfast daily from 9:00 a.m. until about 4:00 p.m., giving locals and visitors plenty of time to enjoy a morning meal that’s anything but ordinary. From creative takes on classic favorites like waffles, pancakes, French toast (including their flamed banana version) to south-of-the-border delights like chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, and guacamole & egg toast, the breakfast menu at Emilio's in Belmar bursts with vibrant tastes and generous portions. You’ll also find inventive egg dishes, savory omelets, and elevated sandwiches like the Magical Mushroom Hibiscus Sandwich — all crafted with organic, high-quality ingredients that reflect Emilio’s commitment to fresh, flavorful cuisine. I'm a huge fan of eggs Benedict, and Emilio's rendition with fresh lump crab meat (the "Crab's End") is a winner! When midday rolls around, Emilio’s shifts into delicious lunch territory without skipping a beat. Their lunch offerings include a variety of Mexican-inspired soups, crisp salads, flavorful tacos, quesadillas, and burritos, each loaded with your choice of protein and fresh toppings. I love that the sandwiches at Emilio's on Main include a healthy side salad (with fries as an optional swap), bringing a nice balance of fresh greens and bold tastes to your plate. RELATED: Dining Around - Emilio's On Main 6. Hatch44 Café 401 Main Street Bradley Beach, New Jersey 07720 732-612-8700 https://www.hatch44cafe.com Hatch 44Café in Bradley Beach is a cozy local spot serving breakfast daily from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a "happy hour" brunch menu from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday. The breakfast menu at Hatch 44, which also has a location in Metuchen, New Jersey, marries classic comfort with inventive twists that keep regulars coming back for more. Locals rave about savory options like the Fiesta Scramble Bowl — loaded with chorizo, Monterey Jack, jalapeños, peppers, onions, avocado, and fresh cilantro — and the spicy avo toast topped with whipped feta and chili oil. Those who prefer breakfast on the sweeter side have indulgent options including Belgian waffles, specialty French toast, and buttermilk pancakes hot from the griddle. Try the Coffee Cream Toast, thick brioche dipped in cappuccino batter, stuffed with coffee-cream and topped with raspberry jam and seasonal fruit. Or the Hatch French toast flight, a sampler of Coffee Cream Toast, Ube-lievable (Ube French toast, topped with a coconut Chantilly), and Churro French toast (coated in cinnamon sugar topped with house whip and fruit). Coffee and specialty drinks are a standout part of the morning experience here too. Hatch44 brews up a classic Americano and creamy latte, offers frothy cappuccinos, and even vibrant matcha lattes if you want something a little different with your breakfast. You’ll also find regular and decaf hot coffee, iced coffee, and cozy options like vanilla chai or hot chocolate — plus freshly squeezed juices if you’re in the mood for a refreshing sip. 7. NEW! Little Gem Bistro 300 Main Street Avon-by-the-Sea, New Jersey 07717 732-725-6005 Local Avon brothers Justin and Stephen Skribner opened their cozy family bistro, Little Gem in spring 2026. The Skribners took over the former location of Bedrock Bistro, a historic site in the borough dating back to 1918, when it was originally known as Maypink's Pharmacy. Executive Chef Justin is the talent in the kitchen, while older brother Stephen, who many locals know from his decades behind Darcy's bar in Bradley Beach, New Jersey, is the host extraordinaire. During my first visit, Stephen reviewed the entire brunch menu at our tableside, explaining that the philosophy of Chef Justin is "low and slow." This philosophy applies to how scrambled eggs, omelets, and even the flat-iron steaks for Steaks & Eggs are prepared to maximize texture and flavor. The Little Gem's Maypink Pancakes are a nod to the building's former roots in the center of the community. The dining room at Little Gem in Avon is adorned with a stunning hand-painted mural wall depicting blooming lemon trees with cardinals discretely nestled among the branches and flowers. According to Stephen, the birds were painted as a memorial tribute to their mother, who passed away from cancer at age 51, as well as to Stephen's late father-in-law. As a "farm-to-table" restaurant, the menu at Little Gem Bistro will change seasonally to take full advantage of the freshest produce and locally sourced ingredients. The brothers also are opening a gourmet market next door to their restaurant, the Little Gem Market. 8. Meemom's Kitchen Target Plaza on Route 35 1825 Highway 35 Wall, New Jersey 07719 732-359-8544 www.meemoms.com The French toast creations at Meemom's will tempt you with more than 25 different choices. You'll find bananas foster French toast and French toast stuffed with mascarpone and fresh berries, peanut butter and marshmallow spread, and many more delicious options. The breakfast menu at Meemom's also includes a selection of pancakes and omelettes, eggs Benedict served over homemade garlic cheddar biscuits, breakfast wraps, eggs your way, sausage gravy over biscuits, avocado toast, and more. 9. Robin's Nest (Formerly Acropolis Café) 506 Main Street Belmar, New Jersey 732-556-0050 After the old-school Greek diner Acropolis Café permanently closed in February 2023, a new breakfast and lunch spot, Robin's Nest, opened in this location on April 15, 2023. Robin's Nest is run by the same owner of Beachside Spa and Daffodil Consignment in Belmar. The menu at Robin's Nest features many of the same beloved breakfast and lunch dishes previously served by Acropolis Café. The restaurant still has the counter and table seating, as well as sidewalk dining in the warmer months. During a recent visit, we enjoyed eggs Benedict with home fries and the Hungry Man special (two eggs, two pancakes or French toast, choice of breakfast meat, home fries, and toast). The breakfast menu also includes pancakes, omelettes, hot breakfast sandwiches, Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, avocado toast, and sides such as oatmeal, toasted bagels and English muffins, and corned beef hash. RELATED: Playa Bowls Opens Second Location On The Belmar Beachfront 10. The Turning Point 2157 Route 35 Sea Girt, New Jersey 08750 732-974-2400 The Turning Point's location in Sea Girt is popular among locals and tourists alike. Start your day with a French press coffee or a loose-leaf hot tea. Craving pancakes? How about an order of chocolate chip pancakes topped with strawberries or sliced bananas and honey-dipped granola. Or try one of Turning Point's "eggceptional" egg dishes, hot waffles, French toast, or something from the "Good and Good for You" section of the breakfast menu. • BYOB Dining Guide: Best Spots in Belmar, Asbury, Avon & Beyond

Want to enjoy a night out without spending a fortune on drinks? The Belmar region of the Jersey Shore has a vast selection of BYOB restaurants with excellent food, so you can indulge in a fine meal without breaking the bank. The Belmar Beachcomber Blog has put together this BYOB dining guide listing our favorite bring-your-own restaurants in and around Belmar to help you plan your next outing. Jump To: Avon BYOBs | Asbury Park BYOBs | Belmar BYOBs | Bradley Beach BYOBs | Brielle BYOBs | Manasquan BYOBs | Ocean Grove BYOBs | Other BYOBs Avon By The Sea BYOBs Avon Promenade 600 Ocean Avenue Avon by the Sea, New Jersey 07717 732-505-7770 The Promenade Oceanfront Grill is an oceanfront fine-dining restaurant on the boardwalk in Avon by the Sea, New Jersey, formerly known as Avon Pavilion. The owners, who took over in 2023, also run Amelia’s by the Sea in Spring Lake, New Jersey. I've enjoyed several dinners here with friends in the summer. The fresh seafood is always a hit! Reservations are recommended. RELATED: Dining Around – Avon Promenade Asbury Park BYOBs Dolce Fantasia 521 Cookman Avenue Asbury Park, New Jersey 07712 Dolce Fantasia 4 in downtown Asbury Park, New Jersey, is another best bet for incredible Northern Italian food. The restaurant has roots in Staten Island, New York, where the family operated for many years before opening their Cookman Avenue location. My absolute favorite dinner here is the Pappardelle al Telefono Nostro, pictured below, tender housemade pappardelle (my die-for noodle!), gently tossed in a melty mozzarella and tomato cream sauce with touches of fresh basil. I only eat pasta as a treat when dining out and actually get cravings for this luxurious entree from time to time ... like I am right now writing this post, LOL. Dolce Fantasia in Asbury Park is the type of old-school Italian restaurant where the Chef visits your table. Excellent, consistent service and food! Local Tip: Although the desserts at Dolce Fantasia are five-star delicious, just like the meals, I like to take the short walk over to Lola's European Cafe after dinner to indulge in a decadent chocolate martini or a scoop of silky gelato — or, sometimes, both! RELATED: Day Trip Destination - Asbury Park Boardwalk Belmar BYOBs Emilio's Kitchen On Main 1006 Main Street Belmar, New Jersey 07719 848-404-9331 Dine in, order takeout, or delivery via DoorDash Since opening in downtown Belmar last fall, Emilio's on Main has quickly earned a reputation as one of the best fine-dining BYOB restaurants in the area. Guests rave about the restaurant's its inviting atmosphere and incredibly flavorful Pueblo-inspired dishes, prepared with fresh organic ingredients, without use of seed oils. Regular customers appreciate the consistency and the personal touch the staff brings to every visit. Local Tip: Emilio's restaurant in Belmar has some of THE BEST fried calamari I've eaten in a long time! I actually stopped ordering it out because it always disappointed, so thank you, Emilio, for bringing fried calamari back into my life! RELATED: Dining Around – Emilio's Kitchen Fed’s on 10th 705 10th Avenue Belmar, New Jersey 07719 732-681-3337 Federici's is a fourth-generation family-owned Italian restaurant with a flagship location in Freehold, New Jersey, and a second spot in Belmar, which opened in 2014. In 2023, Federici's Italian restaurant was recognized in the "Dining - Best Pizza" category of the Asbury Park Press "Best of the Best Awards" and was also honored for "Dining - Best Italian Food" in the newspaper's 2022 reader's choice awards. In addition to super-thin-crust pizza from their brick oven, Fed's on 10th has an extensive menu of Italian cuisine, with everything prepared from scratch. Some of my favorite dishes at Fed's are those made with their amazing Francaise sauce. It is undeniably the best Francaise sauce that I've ever eaten, so buttery and velvety! Try the artichokes Francaise appetizer — or go all in with a dinner order of chicken Francaise, which comes with a side of penne, spaghetti, or pasta of your choice. The vodka sauce pizza with a Shanna Salad are also highly recommended! Reservations are suggested, as the wait for a table can be over 45 minutes in the busy summer season. Bradley Beach BYOBs Del Ponte's Coal-Fired Pizza 600 Main Street Bradley Beach, New Jersey 07720-1052 732-869-0070 I have a lot of favorites at Del Ponte's Pizza in Bradley Beach, starting with the incredible antipasto salad with housemade balsamic vinaigrette (dressing sooo good you can drink it!) or the heavenly warm goat cheese salad with wild berry vinaigrette. The thin-crust pizza at Del Ponte's is made old-school style in an authentic coal‑burning oven, yielding a pie with crispy-tender, charred crust (great for dunking in the balsamic vinaigrette; I always order extra!). My go-to pizza is the Vinny Pie (fresh mozzarella, ricotta, tomato sauce, homemade Italian sausage, and pesto). For variety, I also like the traditional Margherita pizza and the Tuscan pizza (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, chopped garlic, asiago cheese, breaded eggplant, and caramelized onions). Del Ponte's has daily pizza, pasta, and salad specials as well, great options when you want to try something different! LOCAL TIP: After dinner, stop by Del Ponte's Italian Bakery and Creamery next door for some tiramisu, biscotti, cheesecake, or gelato to go. RELATED: Places We Love - Del Ponte's Italian Bakery Marandola's 608 Main Street Bradley Beach, New Jersey 07720 732-361-5888 Reservations on Resy Ranking among "New Jersey's 50 Greatest Italian Restaurants" and "New Jersey's Most Romantic Restaurants," Marandola's is an intimate, family-style Italian restaurant in downtown Bradley Beach, across from Riley Park. It's another one of my favorite BYOB restaurants in Monmouth County. The classic Caesar salad is a must, and I tend to order fresh fish here, such as the panko-crusted halibut in lemon-white wine sauce or the pan-roasted monkfish piccata with capers and spinach, both are excellent! (Did you know monkfish is considered "poor man's lobster"?) Skratch Kitchen 812 Main Street Bradley Beach, New Jersey 07720 732-984-6363 Owner and Chef JT Dunn has developed a selective menu of rustic Italian fare at Skratch Kitchen. Choose from an array of appetizers and salads; main courses starring seafood, chicken, pasta, and prime cuts of meat; homemade ricotta dumplings (gnudi); stuffed rigatoni and shrimp with vodka sauce; and other pastas. Finish off with a house-made dessert such as decadent pistachio tiramisu and an after-dinner coffee drink. Reservations are recommended. Brielle BYOBs Lubrano’s Trattoria 2439 Highway 34Brielle, New Jersey 08736732-292-0050Chef and owner Domenico Lubrano and his staff have been delighting diners since 2000 with their delicious Italian specialties. Try the artichokes oreganata, spicy garlic shrimp, and handmade burrata-filled ravioli. Don’t forget the freshly baked rosemary focaccia bread with dipping oil! It's a casual place with a pizza restaurant and a nicer dining room. Reservations are recommended. Manasquan BYOBs Antonio’s Trattoria 2420 Highway 35 Manasquan, New Jersey 08736 There’s a reason Antonio’s parking lot is always full — people flock there for the amazing Italian food! During a recent Friday night dinner, I paired the burrata salad (Burrata Di Nonna) with the potato-crusted crabcake appetizer for a fantastic light meal. My dining companion chose the Polla Alla Antonio, boneless chicken breast stuffed with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers with a light cream sauce and fresh basil. The menu is extensive, with so many great choices that make it hard to decide. (Not a bad problem to have!) Reservations are recommended. Via Veneto Italian Restaurant 2410 Highway 35 (Next to Pastosa’s) Manasquan, New Jersey 08736 732-722-8458 Via Veneto in Manasquan, New Jersey, is another great Italian BYOB restaurant near Belmar, perfect for a special-occasion celebration such as a birthday or anniversary dinner. During a recent visit, seafood salad (Insalata Di Mare) and clams oreganata were perfect pairings as my meal. A heavenly peanut butter-chocolate mousse cake followed for dessert. Reservations are recommended. Ocean Grove BYOBs SeaGrass Restaurant 68 Main Avenue Ocean Grove, New Jersey 07756 732-869-0770 If you love seafood, you’ll have lots of options for fresh fish and shellfish on the dinner menu at SeaGrass, a BYOB restaurant in downtown Ocean Grove, New Jersey. For the carnivores at the table, SeaGrass has poultry and meat selections. In the off season, SeaGrass offers half-price lunch and dinner entrees every Wednesday and a three-course prix-fixe menu on Thursdays. First-come, first-served seating; no reservations. Point Pleasant Beach BYOBs Casa D’Angelo 718 Arnold Avenue Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey 08742 Casa D’Angelo in downtown Point Pleasant Beach opened in December 2023 and is operated by the former owners of Citrico’s in Bradley Beach (now known as Skratch Kitchen). At Casa D’Angelo, you’ll find classic Italian food, freshly prepared in a cozy setting. Spano’s Ristorante Italiano 719 Arnold Avenue Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey 08742 Reservations Required: 732-701-1600 Authentic Italian dishes are prepared by owner and chef Joseph Spano in his namesake restaurant in downtown Point Pleasant Beach. My go-tos at Spano's are clams oreganata for my appetizer and a main course of the seafood-stuffed flounder in tomato-cream sauce. Soooo good! The tiramisu and tartufo at Spano's are some of my favorite desserts. Reservations are required for all party sizes, with dinner seating from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Spike’s Seafood Restaurant 415 Broadway Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey 08742 732-295-9400 Spike's Fish Market & Restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, is a casual, old-school seafood shanty that's been serving the Jersey Shore for 97 years. I highly recommend the New England clam chowder and the broiled seafood combination. First-come, first-served seating; no reservations. • July 4th Fireworks On Belmar Beach

Officials in Belmar, New Jersey, will light up the summer sky on Friday, July 3, 2026, with a July 4th fireworks spectacular and computerized light show set to music. The Independence Day holiday festivities will take place outside Taylor Pavilion, located at 5th and Ocean Avenues. The July 4th fireworks on Belmar Beach will kick off with a free concert at 8:30 p.m., followed by the laser light show and beachfront fireworks display beginning at approximately 9:10 p.m., around dusk. Although the event is free for the community, Belmar officials are suggesting a donation of $25.00 from each family attending, which will be donated to Rebuilding Warriors. This nonprofit organization provides specially trained service dogs to military veterans who are living with service-related PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, of loss of limbs. • Best Spots To Watch The Sunset In Belmar NJ

End your picture-perfect beach day with a stunning Jersey Shore sunset. In Belmar, the sun makes its daily descent over the serene waters of the Shark River. Along Route 35 in Belmar, Maclearie Park, L Street Beach, and the Belmar Marina are three of the best places to watch the blazing colors unfold as the sun slowly inches down over the western skyline until it disappears from the horizon. For outdoor dining with a sunset view, reserve a table at Rajin’ Cajun restaurant on Route 35 across from the Belmar miniature golf course, or try one of the marina’s two riverfront restaurants, 9th Avenue Pier or Marina Grille, to watch the sunset in Belmar NJ. The Ocean Explorer and Golden Eagle are two locally operated commercial fishing boats that offer sunset cruises from the Belmar Marina. For a sunset adventure closer to shore, book a leisurely tour on the Belmar Tiki Boat, which cruises around the scenic Shark River, departing from L Dock at the Belmar Marina. For something different, book an afternoon whale-watching trip on the Royal Miss Belmar or the Ocean Explorer, and you’ll get the best of both worlds – humpback whales, sunsets, and maybe even some dolphins – if the timing is right. • Miss Belmar Princess Hosts Fish For Life Event

New Jersey Fishing Trip For Special-Needs Children The Belmar Marina will welcome a meaningful and memorable event to its docks this summer. On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the Miss Belmar Princess will host the first‑ever Fish for Life fishing adventure for special-needs youth out of coastal Monmouth County. Fish for Life, a California‑based nonprofit that also operates events in Wildwood Crest, is expanding its New Jersey presence by bringing this incredible program to Belmar for the very first time. About Fish for Life Founded in Dana Point, California, Fish for Life is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to enhance the lives of special‑needs children through confidence‑building fishing trips at sea. Each event pairs participants with volunteer mentors, deckhands, and crew who guide them through a day of hands‑on fishing, ocean education, teamwork, and celebration. The organization is known for creating uplifting, inclusive experiences that leave lasting memories for families. Their motto, “Spreading Love One Boat at a Time,” reflects the heart of their work. "Starting a Fish for Life chapter in Belmar was inspired by a dear friend who has experienced several of our trips in California and spends his summers at the Jersey Shore," said Fish for Life Founder and CEO Jim Holden. "As a member of the Belmar Fishing Club, his passion for our mission and connection to the local community helped spark the idea of bringing Fish for Life to Belmar. From there, the dream began to take shape and ultimately became a reality." About the Miss Belmar Princess The Miss Belmar Princess is one of the most recognizable vessels in the Belmar Marina. At 100 feet long, the boat offers a spacious deck, clean restrooms, shaded seating, and a stable ride — ideal for a supportive, family‑friendly fishing experience. The crew is known for its professionalism, hospitality, and decades of experience running safe and enjoyable trips off the Jersey Shore. “We’re incredibly excited to launch our first-ever Fish for Life voyage in Belmar on Saturday, July 18, aboard the Miss Belmar Princess," Holden said. "Our model requires chartering large sportfishing vessels, and the Miss Belmar Princess is an ideal fit. Its size, layout, and ability to comfortably host our special needs guests and volunteers make it a wonderful platform for creating the unforgettable Fish for Life experience." According to Holden, the Fish for Life adventure aboard the Miss Belmar Princess will host approximately 100 passengers, including 30 special needs youth, 30 chaperones, and 40 volunteers. A marine biologist from New Jersey Fish & Wildlife will accompany the group at sea.
